Betway Review

Betway have quickly become one of the leading bookmakers in the sports betting industry. The company have pilled into their marketing campaign, sponsoring some massive events around the world, including the Premier League darts and even West Ham United football team.

The Betway casino is also pretty unique in that only Microgaming powers it, but that allows to have a great partnership with them, of which we will discuss more later in this review. What you’re getting from a company like Betway is access to one of the more innovative online casinos that have clearly invested heavily into their online gambling portfolio.

One of the most impressive aspects about Betway has been their ability to not only get their faces out in a very competitive marketplace, but also thrive from the added pressure that this sort of exposure inevitably brings.

Odds & Markets

What you will find from Betway is that the site is relatively strong when it comes to pricing. It would be unfair to say that they are up there with the likes of BetVictor, because in all honesty, they aren’t, but they more than hold their own with the majority of bookmakers. One area that we did notice they were strong with is that of e-sport. The odds on offer for these markets were very strong and it seems to be one of the best places to bet on e-sports in the industry.

Market coverage on site is excellent and everything that you would expect to see from one of the biggest bookmakers in the industry is there. The bookmaker clearly revolves heavily around both football and horse, which comes as no surprise, but outside of these markets we were impressed with what was on offer.

We need to mention the e-sports market coverage as well, which backs up the pricing structure for this ‘sport’. There are a number of bookmakers who are starting to get into e-sports in a big way, but we think that Betway might just be the best of the bunch. The cover more tournaments and events than pretty much all the competition and from what we have researched, are the number one pick for most e-sports bettors.

Outside of this you are going to be able to access a plethora of others sports, with Betway offering up a good range of American sports and markets, that caught our eye. As a bit of a base we like seeing how many markets they cover for some of the top flight football games, and we can see that this usually hovers around the 130-150 mark, which is  on the average to good range in the industry.

Betway Features Screenshot

Betway’s website is, in our opinion, one of the most aesthetically pleasing in the business, and it also has good functionality. Sometimes it takes a few more clicks than other sites to navigate to the markets you’re looking for and the ordering of sidebars could be more intuitive but for the casual bettor this isn’t too much of an issue.

The site also allows you to quickly flick between upcoming betting markets as well, changing between starting in the next hour, 4 hours and 24 hours, saving you having to trawl through the whole site.

In Play Betting

The in-play section is very easy to find as there’s a big green button on the top right of all pages which takes you to the long list of in-play and upcoming events. From here you can see how much coverage is available and view all the markets for each fixture by simply clicking on them.

Live Streaming

Live streaming is available on the site although it is provided by a third party and is not always of the highest quality when compared to other top bookmakers. However having any kind of live-streaming functionality puts them ahead of much of their competition so it can’t really go down as a weakness.

Betway Boosts

One of our favourite features with the bookmakers comes in the form of Betway Boosts. These are a series of bets that Betway have enhanced the price of and they come from a number of different sports. The good thing about these is that you can access them as an existing customer and aren’t just available only to new customers. The boosts make them very lucrative and we have seen 3/1 bets enhanced to as much as 7/1 from the markets that we tested. It’s also worth noting that these offers aren’t just for football – although they do make up a large chunk – but instead we saw that baseball, golf and cricket were all on offer at the time of writing.

Mobile Betting

The mobile betting app is a fairly new feature to the Betway armoury or at least in it’s current form it’s new, and has been a welcomed addition. The app carries over the great design that you are going to get from the desktop site and makes it into a functional, yet attractive place to bet.

Horse Finder with Timeform

The horse finder feature at Betway is one of the best that we have come across in some time. The concept is that it allows you to choose a certain number of criteria to find potential picks, such as course winners, finished well last time out, going winner, distance winner, winner in last 3, hampered last race, improved rating, winner last race and plenty more.

Once you have selected your different criteria then the Timeform will pick out a number of picks for you to choose from. It’s a bit like a predictor, but works on a much more sophisticated level, which is why we like it so much.

4-to-Score Competition

Competitions are becoming a great way for bookmakers to increase their exposure and Betway are one of the latest to try the concept. Their 4toscore competition is pretty simple in that you need to choose the team that will score first across all 4 of the English football leagues. This includes Premier League, Championship, League 1 and League 2.

The games that are included are the 3pm kick offs on a Saturday afternoon and the prize pool for each competition will start from £25,000 and roll over should no winner be found. If two or more winners from the same league score within the same minute then they will be both be deemed as winners.

Casino Games

As mentioned previously, the casino takes all its games form the Microgaming software and can be accessed via the browser-based software on site. What you are going to buying into when you open an account with Betway is access to the biggest software provider in the industry, with some of the best games. For those that aren’t familiar with Microgaming, it may seem fairly weird that just one provider is used on the casino in this day and age, but let us assure you that you are still going to be able to access hundreds of the best games in the industry.

The casino crams in a huge number of slots to choose from on site, which is great. What’s a nice touch is that each of the games can be accessed as ‘free paly’ which basically means you get to play first without using real money. If you are new to online casino or you are simply new to a certain game, then it’s a great way to find your feet before having to invest your hard earned cash.

The table games section will offer just about everything that you could eve need from an online casino. It’s heavily weighted towards blackjack and roulette, but then this isn’t uncommon due to them being the two most popular games in this section. However, you are also going to be able to access other games such as 3 Card Poker, Craps, Red Dog, Baccarat, Sic Bo, Pai Gow and several variations of live casino games as well.

The jackpot games section is another that’s very competitive, with around 13 games to choose from. They include some of the industries biggest names in the form of Mega Moolah, Major Millions and Treasure Nile, with each having jackpots well in excess of £1,000,000 at the time of writing.

Who are Betway?

Betway have been about since 2006 and in that time have managed to create quite a profile for themselves. As a group, they manage a number of different companies in several sectors of the gambling industry, such as casino (Spin Casino) and bingo (Dream Bingo and Bingo on the Box). It’s fair to say that the sports betting side is probably the biggest success for the Betway Group and it’s here where they invest a large chunk of their time and resources.

With over two million customers globally, Betway has really exploded onto the scene. This is partly due to the high profile sponsorship of several massive sporting events including the fight between George Groves and Carl Froch at Wembley Stadium, Premier League Darts and the Queen Mother Championship Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

The company is registered and licensed in Malta and although Betway markets itself as a global brand, much of its business and many of its most popular events are based in the UK, where they are licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission for UK-based customers. They also announced in February 2015 that they will be sponsoring West Ham football club in a deal worth over £15 million.
