Gala Casino Review

The Gala Casino is an online casino operator which is part of the Entain Group, one of the largest gambling companies in the world. Well known for their bingo division, Gala launched the casino in 2011 along with a re-vamp of the bingo under the joint banner of Gala Interactive which was a subsidiary of the Gala Coral Group at the time.

In this review we’ll be looking exclusively at the casino but the historic association with Coral, who run a number of land based bookmakers and casinos in the UK, is obviously a part of their credibility as a brand. However this also creates big expectation and in this review we’ll be analysing to what extent they’ve lived up to the promise.

Casino Games

Since the re-launch, most of the casino’s games are powered by industry leading Playtech software, although they also have games from IGT, Ashgaming and Quickspin amongst others. The games are all available for instant play through the online flash casino but you can also download the standalone client if you’d prefer to have all the games in one place.

The casino itself has around 200 games which is fairly average, but then there’s a separate section which is just for slots which contains over 300 games. For poker players Gala have their own poker service, but that’s not the subject of this review. On the High Street

A huge part of Gala has been part of the high street, with a plethora of casinos and bingo halls being run across the UK and Europe. They have been in operation since 1991 and to this day are still able to boast around 140 clubs, a number which has declined since the smoking ban in 2007. They still also entertain around 25 casinos, although a sale of 19 casinos in 2013 to the Grosvenor group has again seen this number hit rock bottom from their peak.

Who Are Gala Casino?

Gala Coral Group was founded in 1991, following the acquisition of Granada Theatre Limited, a bingo operator, by Coral. The new bingo clubs were re-branded with the name Gala which was then fully integrated with Coral in 2005 when Coral Eurobet merged with them, creating one of the largest betting companies in the country and indeed Europe.

The Gala Group group had already acquired some casinos and after the merger the group re-launched the online bingo along with a new look casino. The group became Ladbrokes Coral Group after the two merged in 2016, which was in turn aquired by GVC, now Entain, in 2018.

The casino headquarters are in Nottingham where they employ over 250 people although some parts of the business have now been moved to Gibraltar.
