Vernons Review

Vernons ScreenshotIn its current form, Vernons is one of the newest bookmakers on our radar but is fast growing in popularity thanks to a great introductory offer and plenty of eye catching odds and offers. In this review we’ll take a look at their odds and markets as well as the promotions and features they offer.

Although not as flashy as some of the bigger bookmakers, they are improving all the time and you should definitely have an account at Vernons in order to take advantage of some of the regular promotions that cover a wide range of sports and events.

Odds & Markets

Vernons has a surprisingly good market range and depth for football, with even youth football and lower division games getting fairly comprehensive coverage. This level of detail doesn’t extend across all sports but it does apply to all major events, like big name boxing bouts and international cricket and rugby fixtures.

Also, while the coverage of football is very good, it is more or less limited to European and South American football with just a couple of Asian leagues. This is not really an issue for the casual bettor however, who will be most likely to bet on European football anyway.

Coverage of other sports is mixed, for example in rugby and cricket it is often limited to outright competition winners whereas the horse racing coverage is fairly extensive, at least on UK racing. As well as sports they also have all the standard specials available as well such as politics, entertainment and the royal family but nothing particularly novel.

The first and most important thing to mention is that the website is totally secure thanks to SSL protection and extensive encryption. This means they can securely accept payment from all major debit cards as well as Neteller and Moneybookers. With regulation from the UK Gambling Commission, Vernons are as safe and secure as any bookie in the business.

Live Betting

As mentioned the website is not as modern and flashy as some of the bigger bookmakers but it functions well in most browsers which is the most important thing. The live betting console is fairly easy to navigate once you get the hang of it and it gives you a list of most popular markets on the sidebar which is quite useful.

There’s no dedicated mobile app but being quite simple the site loads perfectly well on most tablets and phones, barring the in-play section which loses some functionality on platforms, which don’t support flash.

Live Score Board

The website also lacks the ability to live-stream events currently but it does provide real time updates on an impressive number of the fixtures it covers which for football means a graphical representation of where the ball is as well as in-depth statistics for some games. For tennis, this means a live-score board, as well as a brief description of all previous games.

Stats by Betradar

The stats at Vernons sportsbook is powered by Betradar, who have been one of the best in the industry for a number of years now. The stats on offer aren’t just your usual football betting stats, but instead are targeted more towards potential bets and then in turn betting markets. It’s this link that we think has been the backbone for making the site and the partnership with Betradar so successful.

We also wanted to point out that it’s not just football that you can gain access to stats for. They are able to offer a huge range of sports with everything from badminton to volleyball. But, we will say that data on the less popular sports is a little more limited, especially when you compare it to football.

Who are Vernons?

Although the current incarnation was formed in 2013 after a media company called NetPlay TV Plc bought out a collection of pools companies, the Vernons name has a long history in British gambling stretching back to 1925. They were originally a football pools company where you could predict the results of top level football matches for a relatively low outlay and chance to win a huge sum of cash.

The company is licensed in the UK and regulated by the UK Gambling Commissions under the Netplay name which includes Vernons sports betting, and The physical headquarters are in Guernsey where the company is based for tax reasons although most of their operations are now online.
