Empire Casino

Just around the corner from Leicester Square tube station sits the Empire Casino – a typical capital city venue that attempts to offer punters a little bit of everything, as well as an exclusive VIP experience for those that desire it. Characteristically a rather quiet casino, Empire Casino can act as a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of the packed Leicester City bars, although the slightly subdued atmosphere may not be quite what every casino visitor is hoping for. Nonetheless, there are plenty of games to play and a couple of funky bars that offer decidedly different flavours: one a tranquil and quiet balcony bar, the other a lively sports den.

Casino Games

Empire Casino has a great little range of games to play, including American Roulette, Blackjack, Punto Banco and Pai Gow Tiles, as well as a healthy selection of electronic machines and slots. There is also the mysterious Dragon Lounge, which the casino dubs a “club within a club”. You’ll find essentially the same range of games in here, but being played at much higher stakes. Unsurprisingly, this area is open exclusively to Monogram, Monogram Diamond, and Elite cardholders.

Empire Casino offers a variety of buy-ins for poker games to ensure people of all budgets and levels are able to participate with cash games and tournaments held on a daily basis throughout the week. Typically, the cash games in the poker room include No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em from £1/£1 blinds to £2/£5 blinds, Pot Limit Omaha, Pot Limit Omaha Mixed, and Pot Limit Omaha Triple Flop. Other games are also available upon request.

Loyalty Program

Empire Casino offer a loyalty program to customers called Player Rewards. After registering for this scheme, participants can rack up points whenever they place a bet, purchase a meal, or buy a drink at any of Empire’s seven casinos across the UK. The more points you earn, the closer you will get to becoming a “special” member of the casino – where you’ll have access to certain rooms and be given tailored service. You’ll need 15,000 points to join Monogram, 30,000 to join Monogram Diamond, and 100,000 to join Monogram Elite.

Food and Drink

There’s a brilliant little bar inside Empire Casino that overlooks Leicester Square (Icon Balcony Bar), which is one of the best views you could realistically hope for when you fancy taking a break from the tables. If you’re up for a more energetic night, you can move across to the Carlsberg Sports Bar, where several sports matches are screened day and night. The food at the Asian restaurant is, by and large, excellent, with a number of different dishes to pick from including lobster, stir fried chicken, noodles and rice, and a variety of soups and starters.
