The Sportsman London

The Sportsman is a highly enjoyable gambling venue based in the British capital, boasting a strong sense of elegance without coming off as too pretentious or exclusive. Anyone is welcome at The Sportsman, and you won’t even need to be a member to play.

Entry is free, and the dress code is pretty relaxed, meaning that you tend to get a bit of mixed crowd no matter what day or time you visit. This can be a curse or a blessing depending upon your views on the matter. There are 17 live gaming tables and a nice variety of games to play too, along with a decent restaurant and a couple of very attractive bar areas.

Casino Games

The choice of gaming at The Sportsmen isn’t bad at all, and whilst there aren’t a spectacular amount of tables, there is a nice variety. In the main gaming room, you can take your pick from Blackjack, Three Card Poker, Punto Banco, Pai Gow and American Roulette. If you prefer to gamble away from the live tables, you can hop onto one of the 20 Electronic Roulette or gaming machines dotted about the venue.

The Sportsman primarily offers three card poker for its guests, which takes place on the games floor along with the rest of the other live games like blackjack and roulette. This means there isn’t really much of an “exclusive” or “specialised” poker experience on offer as such, but if you chat to the staff in advance they might be able to arrange for you and your party to participate in a more advanced game elsewhere in the venue. The staff here are typically pretty good from our experience, so making an inquiry is definitely worth a go.

Loyalty Program

Caesars Entertainment own seven casinos across the United Kingdom, and The Sportsman Casino in London is one of them. At each of these venues, a Player's Rewards system is in place. This scheme encourages guests to accumulate points by placing bets and buying food and drink. As your points total increases, you’ll edge close to the exclusive members groups: Monogram, Monogram Diamond, and Monogram Elite. Once accepted in these groups, you’ll be eligible for a number of great discounts at any of the seven Caesars casinos in Britain.

Food and Drink

Dinner at the main restaurant in The Sportsman is served from 6pm until 1am with the casino bar serving drinks, snacks and light bites from midday right up until 5am. The food is pretty tasty, and there’s a good amount of variety, as well, meaning you should be able to find something you like even if you consider yourself a bit of a fussy eater.

Courses include steak, sole, sea bass, veal and lobster ravioli – and whilst most of them are good, none of them are cheap which means it’s not the best value casino restaurant we have visited in London. The casino bar overlooks the gaming floor, and serves up sandwiches, paninis, curries, burgers, mezze and steak, as well as a refreshing selection of vegetarian options.
